Hello let me introduce myself.
I am Sudheendra Sathvick Running my own company called Sathvick Infotech Private Limtied and I have my expertise in Media Management and graphics.
I am also a coder working on languages like C++, Java, Python and
the latest addition is now React JS to my learning curve
I was part of the Software Development team which built the Corona War Room, bed management, Patient tracking and my role of job was Big Data analyst and Data complier.
To make lay man understand, my job is to feed demy data into a data
structure like patients, hospitals, beds etc and then test the algorithm of the
software which is built on AI using Python
To make you
understand how this software algorithm works I will give you example of Swiggy and
Zomato
Today in lock down when you are staying at your home, If someone feels ill to get a bed it is almost impossible and has to beg various contacts and run around the city.
But if you want to book a special ice cream that is available only in church street you can still do it in lock down and that ice cream reaches your door step in a matter of few minutes. Not only you get the ice cream but you can also keep a track of the delivery boy who is getting it to you
So last year
when we were called for a meet on software development, we gave the same
example.
We wanted
to use the same algorithm of software used by swingy and Zomato to make oxygen
cylinders, medicines and beds reach the needy patients though a completely
automated software system. We wanted to copy the model of swingy and Zomato and
integrate it in medical field so that when you need medical help just like you
order your food on swiggy, you will be ordering your medical services completely
stress free.
Around 1200 developers started work on it. The prototype of this model was presented even in WHO and World Economic Forum.
To be very frank it was this model that made our Health Minister Harshvardhan as the Chair person of WHO.
The effort of Bengaluru software engineers was the key factor that gave the pride to our Health Minister to be the Chair person of WHO but providing credits to a south Indian city is little embarrassing for North Indians. So we knew the ego and bias feelings and did not even grumble about it.
Everything
went on smooth; software was ready to be launched. Just like every Amrutha is preceded
by a poison, the entry of politicians changed the entire game.
The problem politicians had was that if the entire system is automated and if everything starts to be available to people at the press of a button, then what will be the role of the politicians?
They wanted to use this pandemic to build their vote banks.
Their logic was simple. Create scarcity in the Market and when people panic,
then they will call their MP, MLA and when they provides them the solution then
people will remember that politician MP or MLA for life time and it will
guarantee his vote to them.
In my
younger days we had a corporator in our area. Night he himself would come and switch
off water supply to our road by closing valve and would go away. Then early
morning when all the residents panicked with no water they would call corporator, and he would come immediately
and call the valve man, do a drama of scolding him and then he would open the valve.
That would make the entire residents of that road feel that the corporator is
the savior and there votes for him would be sealed.
The same logic was used here. They wanted the automated system to be made faulty. They wanted the control of ordering to be given to a few politicians so that the booking of bed or medicine should take place only through them.
It is just like removing
swiggy and Zomato app from play store and give it to your corporator. So if you
want to order any food the end customer has to go and contact the corporator
and he on your behalf would have that swiggy software and order food. So for
the end user he feels it is the corporator who is getting them the food.
Luckily Swiggy and Zomato does not have politicians so these things are given
directly in control of user.
So the beautiful system that would have made Bengaluru the model city in handling the virus was misused by politicians and this is where the problem started for Bengaluru.
My family is a staunch fan of BJP and Modi and through out our lifetime we have voted for them.
But when we saw this selfish attitude of our own party members the RSS colleagues we felt we were cheated and last July I then quit from the entire system.
Hence a beautiful system of medical supplies which should have
been in the hands of Bengalureans fell into the hands of greedy politicians.
Then we
were totally involved in our work and actually even forgot this entire project.
Although I did not get any money from this project, I was able to work with
some great brains from CISCO which made me learn BIG DATA and AI and so I felt
this project still profitable and never worried about not getting remuneration.
However
with the cases raising, we were again contacted in march last week to again
work on the same algorithm. To make the bed allotment and also add oxygen and
remdisiver and other medicines to this pipeline this time the project was more
challenging.
Actually now if you take example of swingy software, when the delivery boy reaches hotel his waiting time is kept minimum, so that you get the delivery fast. This is done using a process called AI or Artificial Intelligence
Here the software studies the
pattern of old orders and informs the hotel correctly before hand, how much
order he will be getting for a particular item. So this intelligent software tells
the hotel to be ready for a particular food with excess quantity and this decreases
the waiting time of delivery boy.
This was a project where every hospital will clearly know how much oxygen they may need before hand and how many severe cases will reach that hospital and how many ICUS they have to keep ready for that week.
This is a great software which will help
hospitals prepare for the future onslaught of patients so that the death rate
of patients can be kept low.
It was given a time frame of around six weeks to develop and so I was one among the hundreds of software engineers who were working on building this logic.
We all were so ethically bounded that I did not even share this information with my wife and kept the entre project a top secret.
Although I was having access to beds and oxygen supply information we never
used it for personal purpose to share these things with our relatives or
friends. Software developers have this ethics.
Then came the incident of Bed scam raid carried out by our Honorable MP Tejaswi Surya.
The problem was that in the war room certain BJP MLAs had more control on the software and hence their followers were getting more bed.
Especially outsiders who joined BJP like Sudhakar Aravid Limbavali etc were getting more benefit than the true BJP workers like ravi subramanya and others. So to sideline the new comers and to get their share in the software allotment Tejasvi Surya, Ravi subramanya and Satish Reddy enacted a drama of Bed scam.
In the enthusiasm of making it a big scam, they used very filthy words against the Corona war room employees who had left their jobs and were working day and night in pandemic just for a salary of 13,000 rupees.
This ill-treatment meted out to the employees
demoralized many software developers like me and others and yesterday finally I
was advised to quit from this project
What hurt
us most is that software developer like us do not have any religion or caste. The
seventeen Muslim names called by Tejaswi Surya as Jihadis are all known to me
and every person working there. They are simple human beings like us. Take
their name and address and go and visit their houses. They are neither terrorists
or zihadis but they are just simple software developers who are working to keep
their family alive. Their phone numbers were leaked and two of them even had
attempted suicide due to the threats and trolls they have been receiving on the
phone
Thanks to Tejaswi surya today we all decided to stop our ambitious project to make oxygen and medicines reach the patients using the AI technology.
We have the best developers. The software developed by Bangaloreans are used in the rafale helicopter to precisely locate track and chase targets and when it came to using this same technology to the purpose of saving bengaloreans life we are not able to do it due to the insult the politicians have instilled on the software developers.
Hence,
we know if we 1200 software developers had come together, we could have created
a system that could have saved hundreds of lives.
Thanks to
the sting operation of Tejaswi surya that the death rate in Bengaluru has
exactly doubled after the sting operation. The reason is many selfless corona warrior
room workers are demoralized by bringing religion into this holy job. They all
did not protest but just they are quitting and walking out just like I am doing
today.
Just getting
the bed, or oxygen will not save human lives. But you need skilled laborer. Skill
does not differentiate who is a Hindu or Muslim. Accusing Dr Regina just
because she is a Christian had demoralized the entire Christian community and
many Christian nurses are going back to their native place in kefala to offer
their services there. Result is clearly seen in numbers. Death rate in
Bengaluru which should have come down due to lock down had actually doubled.
I really
feel how foolish our people are when they share photo of Tejaswi surya with oxygen
concentrators and say he is a savior. Actually, those Oxygen concentrators are
not meant to be in Tejaswi surya house but it should be in the medical shops
where patients can go and purchase it. The politicians just to build vote bank
they break this supply chain and divert oxygen concentrators that has to reach
medical shop to their houses so that if anyone panics and calls then they can
give it. This is what we call as create artificial scarcity and make people beg
you. Then give them and pretend that you are the savior.
Bengaluru will see huge deaths in coming weeks due to non-availability of staff. I have Two software engineers and young youths in our own house but we all have decided not to do anything and stay home.
We have expertise but politicians
like Tejaswi surya and others have demotivated these experts and all are now
silent spectators of the disaster that is going to happen in Bengaluru
My only request to all my known software buddies and friends is stop boot licking people whether it is modi or Rahul Gandhi or anyone. Use your common sense.
We all are working for multi national companies where our service is used to build the zero tolerance systems in European countries like finland Denmark , Switzerland Canada USA ets.
Come together and focus on building same kind of system where human basic necessities are made available not through politicians but by a AI driven BIG data analyzed software technologies which swiggy Zomato Ola and uber uses.
Stop personification of humans and focus on correcting our system.
So I bid good bye to the chapter as corona warrior and learn how to be selfish.
